Friday Trivia

It’s the first Friday of a new month, and thanks to a suggestion from one of my readers, I’m going to start sharing the hardest and easiest questions from last month.

Creating these questions is never a perfect science, and these two were either too obscure or too obvious.

The Hardest: The Master’s fun facts question.

Which one of these Master’s fun facts is NOT true?

  • Cell phones are prohibited throughout the weekend, but they can use cameras during practice sessions

  • Pimento cheese sandwiches are a signature menu item, and they only cost $1.50

  • Tiger Woods holds the record for the most wins (5)

  • TV announcers cannot refer to the spectators as "fans" because the Masters org doesn't want the public to think of their patrons as "fanatics"

  • TV announcers must call the "back nine" the "second nine"

  • TV announcers must call the "driving range" the "tournament practice facility"

Okay, for this one, I knew it was obscure going in, but I wanted to find a creative way to share all these weird fun facts in the question. I thought that most folks wouldn’t know all these nuanced rules, but I did think more people would know that Jack Nicklaus has the most Master’s titles with 6, so the only real trivia knowledge would be the Tiger Woods line.

Only 18% of you answered this question correctly.

The Easiest: Houston to Tennessee

The Titans were originally called the “Oilers” before changing their city and name to Tennessee in 1996.

What city did they move from?

  • Baltimore

  • Denver

  • Houston

  • Indianapolis

  • Pittsburgh

This one was a little easier than I expected. I thought more people would consider the Colts (moved from Baltimore to Indianapolis) or the Ravens (moved from Cleveland to Baltimore). I also threw Pittsburgh in there because I thought there might be an association with Oil and Steel.

87% of you answered this question correctly.

TODAY’S TRIVIA: One question that most of you also answered incorrectly was the “Battle of Ontario” question earlier this week (only 21% of you knew that the capital of Ontario was Toronto), so I am giving you another geography question to make up for it.

The “Battle of Florida” wrapped up Wednesday night as the Florida Panthers eliminated the Tampa Bay Lightning (series 4-1).

What is the capital of Florida?

Note: My dad was a geography major and loved quizzing my brother and me on state capitals, so I actually have no idea if this is a tricky question or not

Yesterday’s Trivia: The team yesterday was the San Francisco 49ers:

WR1: Brandon Aiyuk was drafted in round 1

TE: George Kittle was an Iowa Hawkeye and was just made the highest paid tight end in football

DE: Nick Bosa has a brother in the NFL (Joey Bosa)

Brock Purdy, their starting QB, is 25 years old

Trent Williams, their All-Pro OT, went to Oklahoma

Thanks for playing. See you tomorrow.
