Morning thoughts
Happy Friday everyone! Some more changes are coming for MST. My goal is to make this weekly trivia more competitive and feel like a trivia league. You can think of this right now as “preseason” with the first season starting in November.
If you have feedback, please shoot me an email.
Last week's winners
Champion: "Sonya"
Sonya finished tied at the top with 6/10 and won it on the tiebreaker.
Closest to the Pin: "Tiffany"
Tiffany missed the distance from Gateway Center Arena in Atlanta to Chase Center in San Francisco by just 71 miles.
Fun fact of the week
When Washington lost on Monday night, the NFC East became the first division since the 1970 merger to go winless in back-to-back weeks with all four teams playing. Over those two weeks the division went 0–6–2.
The leader? The 3–2–1 Giants.
You catch “the game” last night?
The World Series: Rays vs. Brewers
Baseball's two best teams, and neither one has ever won it. The Brewers (103–59, best in the NL) are in the World Series for the first time since 1982 and for the first time as a National League team. They swept my Dodgers to get here. The Rays (98–64, best in the AL) are back for the first time since 2020 after knocking out Cleveland in six.
Game 1 is a great pitching matchup: Jacob Misiorowski, who led MLB in ERA (1.80) and strikeouts (252), against Nick Martinez (15–6, 3.10 ERA), a first-time All-Star. The Rays are giving ace Drew Rasmussen an extra day of rest, which sets up a fun subplot for later in the series: Milwaukee drafted Rasmussen, then traded him to Tampa Bay in 2021.
How to watch: Game 1 is Friday, 8:00 PM ET on FOX. Game 2 is Saturday, 8:00 PM ET on FOX.
Also this weekend: Kimi Antonelli can clinch the F1 title at the U.S. Grand Prix in Austin (Sunday, 4:00 PM ET on Apple TV), and the Dream can take a 3–1 lead in the WNBA Finals (Saturday, 1:00 PM ET on NBC).
This week's trivia:
Q1. Rough news out of Philly: Jalen Hurts is out for the season after doctors found a blood clot in his leg and clots in both lungs. The 2–4 Eagles turn to Tanner McKee, who gets Dallas on Monday night.
Eagles fans have been here before. In December 2017 their starter went down, Nick Foles took over, and Philly won its first Super Bowl.
Which Eagles quarterback went down that season, before Nick Foles took over and led them to the Super Bowl LII title?
