Morning thoughts

We’re back! So I have some big changes for this newsletter.

I read a few months ago that doing a daily newsletter is like running a diner during the breakfast rush. I have felt that with the daily posts, finding it difficult to push this newsletter to where I wanted it to be. I finally came to the decision to continue with Morning Sports Trivia, but now exclusively in a weekly format. New posts will be live every Friday morning.

The questions will be similar, but I will do my best to order them from easiest to hardest.

Other changes:

  • You will get awarded 2 points for a correct answer

  • 1 point for a correct answer with a hint

  • And a tiebreaker question at the end

Each week, I will include the winner from the previous edition.

This is the first full test of it, so if you have feedback, something broke, anything. Please don’t hesitate to let me know!

Fun fact (tidbit?) of the week:

Gavin McKenna, the 18-year-old No. 1 pick, scored his first goal and added his first assist in Toronto's 5–4 overtime win over Nashville.

My favorite bit? The goal was set up by Auston Matthews, who'd had him over for a sleepover the night before. McKenna said afterwards that "We might have to have a weekly sleepover now."

Oh yeah, and he’s currently living with captain John Tavares and his family.

What you should care about this weekend: “The Game”

No. 2 Georgia at No. 6 Alabama

The wild card is the weather. Tropical Storm Isaias is forecast to come ashore near Gulf Shores late Friday, possibly as a hurricane. For now the game is still on for Saturday night, but keep an eye out for a move to Sunday.

How to watch: Saturday, 7:30 PM ET on ABC

This week's trivia:

Q1. Lane Johnson retired this week after 14 seasons at right tackle, all with the Eagles: six Pro Bowls and two Super Bowl rings. Johnson has openly battled with mental health issues and finally decided to prioritize that and his family. Good for him.

Which school did Lane Johnson play for in college?

Thanks for playing. See you next week.
