Morning thoughts:

Almost Friday and almost May? Where’d the time go?

Today’s Trivia:

The NBA has released a new proposal to curb tanking, which includes giving more teams the same odds of winning the first overall pick. The biggest change is that the bottom three teams would not have the best odds of getting the top selection, and instead, teams 4th-10th would have slightly more favorable odds.

The idea is that the teams at the bottom would have more meaningful games towards the end of the season to try and win their way out of the bottom three spots. If approved, it could go into effect as early as 2027.

The NBA would be the first of the North American “Big 4” leagues to penalize the worst teams in the league (similar to relegation in European soccer leagues).

One other change would include a clause that would forbid teams from winning the lottery in back-to-back seasons and/or winning a top 5 selection in three consecutive seasons.

One team currently in the playoffs has benefitted from three straight draft picks within the top 5…
