Sorry Knicks fans, but that was brutal.
ICYMI, the Knicks choked late in the fourth quarter, where they led by as many as 17 and were up 14 with under 3 minutes to play.
After closing the gap late, it was the “underrated” Tyrese Haliburton who hit a buzzer-beater to send it to OT.
In real time, it appeared that he hit a game-winning three, but because his foot was on the line, the Pacers needed OT to complete the comeback. Of course, Haliburton hit the Knicks fans with the “Reggie Miller choke” sign.
Game 2 is tomorrow (IND leads 1-0).
Fun fact: teams leading by 14 or more points in the final 2:45 minutes of the 4th quarter are 994-0 since 1997…If the Knicks don’t win this series, this game will become the stuff of legends.
On the ice, the Oilers let in 5 straight after leading 3-1 against the Stars in game 1 of the Western Conference finals (DAL leads 1-0).
TODAY’S TRIVIA: The NBA finally announced this season’s MVP, and they took their sweet time doing so. This is the latest announcement of the award since 1998, and don’t call me a conspiracy theorist, but it looks like they waited until after the result of the Thunder/Nuggets series to announce it.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander claimed the award after averaging 32.7 points, 6.4 assists, and 5.0 rebounds per game this season for the league-high 68-win Oklahoma City Thunder.
Gilgeous-Alexander is the 3rd Thunder player to win the award…
Who are the other two players?click to reveal |
Hint: 2014 and 2017
Hint #2: It’s uh, not the 4th answer….it felt weird not having at least a 4th option
