TODAY’S TRIVIA: I was really looking forward to the split screen with the NBA’s Game 4 of the Western Conference final and the NHL’s Eastern Conference final.

Because of the absolute romp happening in Oklahoma City, it soon became a single-screen kind of night. The Timberwolves looked bad early, and I’m not sure how anyone will stop this young Thunder squad. The Thunder ended up winning 124-94, and it was never close (OKC wins 4-1).

They take on the winner of the Knicks and Pacers; Indiana has a chance to close out that series in New York tonight at 8pm ET on TNT.

On the other hand, the Panthers versus Hurricanes was an unreal game; back and forth all night, great goaltender play on both sides, and a late penalty led to a heck of a final 3 minutes. Florida prevailed 5-3 (with help from a late empty-netter) to close out the series.

They return to their third straight trip to the Stanley Cup, where they will face the winner of the Oilers and the Stars (Edmonton up 3-1, Game 5 tonight at 8pm ET on ESPN).

Who was the last NHL team to win back to back Stanley Cups?

Fun fact: it wasn’t all bad for the Hurricanes. After winning Game 4, they finally broke one of the worst streaks in hockey. They had previously lost 15 Eastern Conference final games (they were swept in 2009, 2019, and 2023)
