Morning thoughts:
I really don’t know how I didn’t comment on one of the greatest athletic achievements ever in yesterday’s newsletter. The 2-hour marathon barrier was officially broken by 2 men in the London Marathon this past Sunday.
Can you imagine if you were Roger Bannister and you got second when breaking four minutes in the mile?
Also, third place broke the previous World Record! What a wild day.
Sebastian Sawe of (KEN): 1:59:30
Yomif Kejelcha (ETH): 1:59:41
Jacob Kiplimo (UGA): 2:00:28
Today’s Trivia:
The top two athletes were Adidas athletes featuring their latest super shoe, which is a big blow for Nike’s PR team.
One runner has technically broken 2 hours in the marathon before, but it was in unofficial conditions due to things like pacers and a controlled course.
Name that runner
Hint:
He is now 5th on the all-time list, and he runs for Nike
Yesterday’s Trivia:
Q: Who holds the record for the longest on-base streak in MLB history?
A: Ted Williams
Answered correctly: 22% (yeesh)
Highest answer: Barry Bonds
Thanks for playing. See you tomorrow.
